The Challenge: High levels of vulnerability in fishing-dependent communities increase risks of abuse and neglect.
Our Action: We establish school-based “Safe Spaces” and conduct community awareness campaigns on child rights and safeguarding.
The Goal: A protective environment where children feel safe and their voices are heard.
The Challenge: Poverty is the leading cause of school dropouts; families struggle to afford basic school requirements.
Our Action: We provide caregivers with financial literacy and income-generating skills to ensure they can support their children’s education.
The Goal: Resilient families that can withstand economic shocks without pulling children out of school.
The Challenge: Poor sanitation and hunger lead to high absenteeism and low concentration.
Our Action: We install clean water systems (WASH) in schools and pilot sustainable nutrition alternatives.

Since 2020, Strong Steps Foundation has championed every child’s right to read, delivering inclusive, quality education to marginalized island and lakeshore communities across Homa Bay and Migori Counties.
