Who We Are

Empowering the Next Generation in Kenya’s Lake Region.

Established in 2020, Strong Steps Foundation (SSF) is a locally founded NGO dedicated to the belief that every child has intrinsic value. We operate in the marginalized island and lakeshore communities of Homa Bay and Migori, where geography and poverty often stand in the way of education. Our work ensures that children in remote areas like Mfangano and Migingo have the same opportunities to learn, thrive, and realize their full potential as any other child in Kenya.

Our Strategic Approach

A Holistic Framework for Quality Education.

We don't just provide books; we solve the interconnected challenges that keep children out of school. Our "Theory of Change" focuses on five critical levers of impact:
  • Aligning instruction with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
  • Championing rights and creating safe, abuse-free environments.
  • Empowering caregivers to provide for their families sustainably.

  • Championing rights and creating safe, abuse-free environments.
  • Addressing health through WASH and school feeding alternatives

Our Values & Accountability

Grounded in Integrity and Stewardship.

At SSF, we are committed to the highest standards of transparency. We are guided by a professional 8-member Board of Directors and a dedicated management team based in Suba North. Our operations are anchored in six core values:
